Care & Hanging Guide

Every Taraf piece arrives ready to hang with pre‑installed hardware—so getting it on the wall is calm, quick, and secure. This guide distills museum‑grade care and proven hanging standards into clear, dependable steps.

What’s Included on Your Artwork

  • Pre‑installed hardware: D‑rings with gallery wire on most sizes; sawtooth hanger on select small/light pieces.

  • Stability bumpers: Rubber/felt pads on the back corners to protect walls and keep the frame level.

  • Notes: For oversized/heavy works, a French cleat/Z‑bar may be recommended; if applicable, this will be noted on the product page or order confirmation.

Wall fixings (hooks/anchors) vary by wall type and are typically not included.

Care & Preservation

Handle & Unbox

  • Open on a clean, soft surface; keep hands clean or use cotton gloves.

  • Lift by the frame sides—never the top rail or canvas surface.

Clean (Only If Stable)

  • Dust, don’t wash. If there’s no flaking paint, remove loose dust with a soft natural‑hair brush; tilt the artwork slightly forward so dust falls away.

  • Avoid feather dusters, rough cloths, vacuums directly on paint, water, solvents, and household cleaners.

  • Frames: dry, soft cloth. Glazing: non‑ammonia acrylic cleaner on the glazing only—never on the art.

Light, Heat & Humidity

  • Avoid direct daylight/UV and hot spotlights; use diffused, low‑intensity lighting.

  • Keep temperature 16–25 °C and humidity stable; avoid damp areas and exterior walls.

  • Consider UV‑filter glazing or window films for bright rooms.

Hanging Guide

What You’ll Need

Pencil · tape measure · level · painter’s tape/paper templates · stud finder (optional) · drill/hammer · suitable picture hooks/anchors for your wall · (optional) extra rubber bumpers.

Heights That Work

  • Standard centerline: Start at 145 cm (≈57 in) from floor to the artwork’s center. Adjust for very tall rooms or low ceilings.

  • Above furniture: Keep the bottom edge 18–25 cm (7–10 in) above a sofa/console/headboard.

  • Proportion: Aim for a single piece or grouping ≈ 2∕3 the width of the furniture beneath (up to 3∕4 for large walls).

The No‑Guesswork Formula (for wire or D‑rings)

  1. Mark wall center horizontally. Choose your centerline height H (e.g., 145 cm).

  2. Measure frame height (F).

  3. Measure drop (D): from the frame’s top to the tightened wire peak or to the D‑ring hole.

  4. Hook height = H + (F ÷ 2) − D.

  5. For two hooks: mark equal distances from wall center; keep both marks level.

Layouts & Spacing

  • Diptych/Triptych: 5–8 cm (2–3 in) between panels; align centers or bottoms.

  • Grid: 5–10 cm (2–4 in) gaps horizontally and vertically; level the top row.

  • Gallery wall: Map with paper templates or painter’s tape; anchor around a piece centered at 145 cm.

Hanging in 60 Seconds

  1. Mark the 145 cm centerline.

  2. Use the Hook height formula; install two hooks for stability (pieces wider than 60 cm / 24 in).

  3. Hang on the wire or D‑rings; add bumpers; check level; adjust spacing if part of a set.

  4. Step back and review from a few angles.

Safety: Use appropriate anchors. Avoid hanging heavy works where they could fall onto beds or seating.
